Mahaska County Treasurer's TAX department is open 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Property tax statements were mailed August 13, 2021. If you did not receive your statement(s) please contact our office to verify or update your mailing address.
We encourage you to pay your property taxes online as the safest and most efficient option. You may contact the tax office at 641-673-5482 if you need assistance or have any questions. We encourage you to pay your property tax online at www.iowatreasurers.org. You may search by name, (LAST NAME, First initial), by parcel or by property address. You may also pay by mail, payable to Mahaska County Treasurer. Mail property tax payments to: Mahaska County Treasurer 106 S. 1st Street, Oskaloosa IA 52577. There is also a PAYMENT DROP BOX located outside of the Auto Department door. Please include you payment stubs, verify your mailing address, and include your phone number. We also encourage you to pay your vehicle renewal by mail, or online at www.iowatreasurers.org. Please review your vehicle statement and renew only the vehicles that you still own. Please verify your mailing address as well. You will need to enter your PIN number or AUDIT number for online vehicle renewals. The PIN Number is located on your vehicle renewal notice you received in the mail. The AUDIT number is located 3/4ths of the way down the current registration on the left hand side. You may contact our office at 641-673-4618 for assistance with locating your PIN number.
Real ID (Gold Star) will go into affect May 3,2023.
The Treasurer is the custodian of all county funds.
Term: Four Years
Bond: $50,000.00
The Treasurer shall assess omitted real property, which has not been assessed by the Assessor, Board of Review, or the County Auditor.
The Treasurer shall give a receipt for all money collected by the treasurer for deposit with the treasurer and shall keep a record of such funds separately in a book provided for that purpose. The Treasurer shall make semi-annual settlements with the Board of Supervisors and shall report all fees collected.
The County Treasurer pays all warrants issued by the County Auditor, cancels and registers them.
The County Treasurer apportions property tax collected to the certified entities per taxing district on a monthly basis.
The County Treasurer invests idle county funds.
