Job Description
The Mahaska County Attorney and Keokuk County Attorney are soliciting applications for a full-time Assistant County Attorney. This position will share between Mahaska County and Keokuk County with 25 percent of the time being devoted to Keokuk County matters. Travel to Oskaloosa and Sigourney is required. Duties of the position will include prosecution of criminal offenses, juvenile delinquency and child in need of assistance cases, mental health commitments, debt collection, and representation of county officials in civil matters. The position is responsible to and supervised by the Mahaska County Attorney. Employment is anticipated to begin January 1, 2025, but the position is subject to funding and availability.
Job Requirements
Applicants must be licensed to practice law in the State of Iowa. Prior prosecution and trial experience is preferred, but not required. Knowledge of and experience with technology in both the law office and the courtroom setting is preferred. Compensation is $76,500 plus benefits.
