Job Description
The Mahaska County Assessor’s Office is taking applications for the position of Administrative Assistant. This is a full-time, non-exempt, salaried position (2080 hours annually) with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and life insurance; paid vacation and sick leave; and IPERS.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and at least five years of experience in a professional office setting. Prior experience with real estate, property appraisal, GIS, taxation or other government work will also be beneficial.
Successful applicants will have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to follow directions and cooperate with supervisors and co-workers. This position will serve the public daily, therefore a helpful attitude and the ability to handle confrontation in a professional manner is necessary.

Job Requirements
-High school diploma or GED
-At least five years experience in a professional office setting performance administrative and clerical duties
-Complete working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
-Experience with real estate, property appraisal, GIS, taxation, or other government work is beneficial
Job Hours
Typical hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. During busier seasons, hours may be extended. Continuing education sessions may periodically require some overnight travel within the state.
